About the trail
This loop links the two most famous waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge. Climb the paved Multnomah Falls switchbacks to the top of the 620-foot two-tier cataract, traverse the ridge past Wiesendanger and Ecola Falls, then descend Wahkeena Trail past Fairy and Wahkeena Falls. The forest is dripping moss and old-growth Douglas fir.

Turn-by-turn route
- Park at Multnomah Falls Lodge or reserve a timed-use permit May–Sep.
- Climb the paved trail to the top of Multnomah Falls (1.2 mi).
- Continue west on Trail 441 past Wiesendanger and Ecola Falls.
- Connect to Wahkeena Trail and descend past Fairy Falls and Wahkeena Falls.
- Walk the paved Return Trail back to Multnomah Lodge.
Parking
Multnomah Falls Lodge lot or I-84 exit 31. Timed-use permits required May–September.
Tips from the trail
- Trails are slick year-round — bring traction.
- Best light for Multnomah Falls is morning.
- Combine with a stop at Vista House and Crown Point.
