About the trail
Mount Greylock (3,491 ft) is the highest point in Massachusetts and the centerpiece of the state's first wilderness reservation. The Hopper Trail climbs out of a glacial cirque called The Hopper, passes through one of New England's largest stands of old-growth red spruce, and tops out at the iconic Veterans War Memorial Tower. On clear days the view extends across five states.

Turn-by-turn route
- From Williamstown, drive Hopper Road to its end at Haley Farm.
- Park at the Hopper trailhead.
- Follow the Hopper Trail steeply up through the cirque.
- Join the Appalachian Trail near the summit and climb to the Memorial Tower.
- Return via the same route, or descend the Money Brook Trail for a loop.

Haley Farm lot at the end of Hopper Rd. Free, limited capacity.

- Climb the Memorial Tower for a free 360° view.
- Bascom Lodge at the summit serves food in season.
- Black flies are vicious in late May and June — bring repellent.
